Johnny Holland has 29 years of NFL experience, 22 years coaching and 7 years as a player. Throughout his career, he has set a high standard by achieving individual and professional success. Johnny Holland had an outstanding football career at Texas A University as a two-time All American linebacker. He was inducted into the Texas A Hall of Fame (1993) and the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame (2000). Johnny was the 2nd round draft choice for the Green Bay Packers in 1987, where he became a member of the NFL’s All-Rookie team and later was inducted into the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame (2001). He began his NFL coaching career at Green Bay where he helped to lead the Packers to an NFC Championship (1996) and a World Championship in Super Bowl XXXI (1997). He continued his coaching career in Seattle (2000-2002), Detroit (2003-2005), Houston (2006-2010) and Oakland (2012). He is best known for his career as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) and for his coaching career in college and professional football. Holland attended Texas AM University, where he played football from 1983 to 1986 and was a two-time All-American selection. After graduating from Texas A, Holland was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 1987 NFL Draft. He played for the Packers from 1987 to 1993 and was a key member of the team's defense during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Holland finished his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, where he played from 1994 to 1995, winning a Super Bowl championship in his final season. Following his retirement from playing football, Holland began his coaching career at Texas A, where he served as a graduate assistant from 1996 to 1997. He then moved on to coach at the high school level before returning to college football as a linebackers coach at Texas Southern University in 2003. In 2004, Holland joined the coaching staff of the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe as the team's linebackers coach. Holland's first coaching job in the NFL came in 2005 when he was hired by the Houston Texans as the team's linebackers coach. He held that position until 2013, when he was promoted to defensive coordinator. Holland also served as the linebackers coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2014 and 2015 before returning to the Texans as their linebackers coach in 2016. Throughout his coaching career, Holland has been recognized for his expertise in coaching linebackers, and he has been credited with developing several successful NFL linebackers, including DeMeco Ryans, Brian Cushing, and Whitney Mercilus. Holland's knowledge of the game and his ability to connect with players have made him a highly respected coach at both the college and professional levels.
